2010 Olympic Winter Games Torch Relay

Jason 2010 Olympic Winter Games TorchbearerI love the Olympics. This summer I was chosen by Coca-Cola to be an Olympic Torchbearer in the Torch Relay. I will be running with the Olympic Flame in Creemore, Ontario on December 29th. The slogan for the Winter Games here is “With Glowing Hearts” referring to a line in our national anthem (“With glowing hearts, we see thee rise, The true North strong and free”). My heart will certainly be glowing – probably close to bursting out of my chest – while I proudly carry the flame past cheering spectators. It’s a moment I am really looking forward to. Can you tell?

However, I have to admit that I am a little jealous of Steve, the Vancouver Tour Guy and the rest of his team for living and working in the city where the Olympics are being held. They will be in the middle of all the excitement and international hoopla running fantastic tours for visitors from across Canada and all over the world. We’re hoping that after the Games are over and everyone has gone home, hundreds, if not thousands, of people will have happy memories of their visit to Vancouver and their time spent with Tour Guys.

Personally, I’m hoping that there will be a lot of people visiting Toronto as well during the Olympics. I mean, why come all the way to Canada and just see ONE city? Toronto and Vancouver are very different from each other and offer visitors different experiences.

If you are planning a trip to Vancouver for the Olympics in 2010 I hope you make a Tour Guys walking tour part of your plans. There really is no better way to appreciate the city than on foot with an expert guide at your side. And if you are stopping in Toronto, let us know. We’re running tours all winter here too!
